This includes design verification and advisory services regarding mechanical and electrical aspects, alongside functional safety, or conducting a risk assessment in accordance with the EN ISO 12100 standard (focused on risk reduction, design, safeguarding, and user information).
Verification of the reliability of safety circuits and technical construction files, execution of conformity assessments, and specific training are also part of our services.
End-users
We assist end-users by reviewing risk assessments conducted by the manufacturer, alongside the aforementioned design verification and advisory services regarding mechanical, electrical, and safety aspects.
Our experts can also be deployed to verify conformity assessment procedures, witness site acceptance tests (SAT), or provide specific machinery safety training.
Employers
With a view to the safe use of machinery and installations, we possess the expertise to conduct or review an in-depth risk assessment and evaluation (RI&E) and draw up an accompanying Action Plan (PvA) for employers.
Within this framework, we also offer advice on the modification of machinery and work equipment, perform compliance checks on your machinery fleet, and provide guidance on complying with the NEN 3140 and NEN 3840 standards, alongside delivering targeted training.
European Machinery Regulation EU 2023/1230
The European Machinery Regulation harmonizes the most essential health and safety requirements for machinery within the European Union (EU) to ensure the free movement of products and protect users. The regulation focuses on guaranteeing a minimum level of health and safety for machinery and related products placed on the European market.
The new European Machinery Regulation EU 2023/1230 replaces the old Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC and will become mandatory throughout the EU from January 20, 2027, for both manufacturers and suppliers. This means that all technical construction files and risk analyses must be updated before January 2027. In principle, machinery that has already been lawfully placed on the market under the old directive prior to this date may remain in use.
The new regulation introduces several changes compared to the old directive, the most important of which can be summarized as follows:
- Focus on cybersecurity and the application of artificial intelligence (AI)
- Stricter rules regarding the modification of machinery
- Expansion of the list of high-risk machinery requiring external verification
- Stricter software requirements: software updated after the sale of machinery that alters its operation is now directly subject to safety requirements.
