ASSET MANAGEMENT - FIRE SAFETY SCAN
INTRODUCTION
As the owner or manager of a building, you are responsible for all fire safety aspects. This is often fine with new construction, but in case of large-scale renovations, change in function or use of a building, changes in the immediate vicinity and other modifications can affect the fire safety aspects of a building. In these cases, you must be able to demonstrate that you have done everything you can to maintain fire safety at a high level. A fire safety scan is a means to demonstrate this.
WHAT IS THE PURPOSE OF A FIRE SAFETY SCAN?
The purpose of a fire safety scan is to assess all aspects related to the fire safety of a building. This gives us insight into the extent to which your building still complies with laws and regulations. But we can also assess your building's fire safety level, and what you can, or should do, to improve fire safety.
WHAT DOES THE REPORT SAY?
During the fire safety scan, all aspects of the Building Decree 2012 (and additions), related to fire safety, will be discussed. Broadly speaking, this means an analysis of these components:
- strength in the event of a fire
- limitation of the occurrence of a fire hazard
- limit of the development of a fire
- limitation of the extension of a fire
- limitation of the occurrence of smoke
- limitation of the spread of smoke
- escape within a smoke compartment
- escape routes
- establishment of smoke-free escape routes
- prevention and limitation of accidents in the event of fire
- fire fighting.
We also check whether the building complies with the laws and regulations concerning fire safety. This includes the presence and completeness of logs and possible permits. We also check whether the obligation to maintain or have certain elements maintained or inspected (such as fire extinguishers, fire safety and smoke control systems, fire pipelines and emergency lighting) is fulfilled.
