Bureau Veritas Contributes to Accelerating Hydrogen Development in Rotterdam

mai. 2 2023

As Rotterdam evolves into an international Hydrogen Hub, many businesses, government organisations and academic institutions are working on innovating hydrogen-related technologies and applications.

Bureau Veritas, as a world leader in Testing, Inspection, and Certification (TIC), contributes to this think tank to accelerate hydrogen development in Rotterdam by actively participating in industry discussions and sharing its expertise on energy transition.

Hydrogen Industry Round Table

In the lead up to the Word Hydrogen Summit, Bureau Veritas will participate in the Hydrogen Industry Round Table on 8 May. Jointly organised by the City of Rotterdam, the Port of Rotterdam, and Platform Zero, this meeting aims to define the innovation roadmap for the development of the hydrogen economy by bringing together insights and expertise in the industry.

The group of industry leaders will address growing demands, bottlenecks, and opportunities to develop a strategy. This roadmap will contribute to the partnership of universities, innovation hubs and ports in order to define the most relevant focus for innovation.

Sharing Expertise on Energy Transition and Traceability

With the ambitious upscaling of hydrogen, and the expansion of distribution and transport networks, there are many challenges – but also opportunities – ahead in developing Rotterdam’s hydrogen ecosystem.

Nicole Van Klaveren, Director of Business Development and Sales at Bureau Veritas Commodities North West Europe, and Mare Straetmans, entrepreneur and co-founder of Platform Zero, share their views with Rotterdam Partners. They discuss Rotterdam’s suitability as a hydrogen hub and offer ideas on how to accelerate its development.
